The Peugeot Traveller/Jumpy is one of the most popular Peugeot vans/MPVs because it is large, yet not overly so which means that it isn’t too difficult to live with. The first generation of the Traveller was introduced back in 1994 while the latest generation was introduced in 2016. The e-Traveller electric version came out three years later in 2019.

For the 2023 model year, Peugeot is hopefully going to come out with a new or revised version of the e-Traveller, but that is not 100% certain as they already offer the Traveller in EV form while some models still don’t come with hybrid, and electric engines.

Peugeot recently came out and said that all of their models will be electrified in one way or the other for the 2023 year which also means that diesel engines are going away for good.  2023 Peugeot e-Traveller – The Powertrain

The Peugeot e-Traveller uses the same exact powertrain that you will find in a few other MPVs from its class as the platform was developed by Stellantis who owns Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, and some other brands. This powertrain consists of two different battery sizes. The smaller one offers a 50kWh capacity while the larger one offers 75kWh.

This is good for about 110 miles of range in the real world for the smaller battery and up to 165 miles for the larger battery. Peugeot is likely going to keep these two batteries for now, but they are also likely to extend that range with better software and energy management.

The engine offers 134hp and 192lb-ft of torque which is decent for its class. Fast charging is enabled up to 100kW which is enough to charge the e-Traveller from 20% to 80% in around 26 minutes for the 50kWh model and 38 minutes for the 75kWh model.

All in all, the powertrain is likely to remain the same for the 2023 model, but with some efficiency upgrades and better energy management.

As mentioned in the beginning, the current model of the e-Traveller was introduced for the 2016 model year which is quite some time ago. The e-Traveller came out three years later but it didn’t look all that different from the normal Traveller. With that being said, the e-Traveller does not look particularly dated from the outside, but it could do with a refresh.

The interior is very much the same. Everything is where you’d expect it to be and the build materials are nice. It’s a bit refreshing to get into a car with normal-sized screens, but that is not the trend these days which means that we can expect the next-gen Traveller to feature larger screens.

The driving experience is nothing special at all as this is a van after all. It goes about its business like a van does which means not dynamic, and is relatively stiff.

As far as reliability is concerned, the 2023 e-Traveller is likely to remain the same as its previous iterations which means that it should be decently reliable for the most part. The e-Traveller did have some issues with the high voltage wiring while some also pointed out slow charging to be an issue.

However, there isn’t too much data online on how reliable the e-Traveller is which means that people didn’t complain about the e-Traveller all that much.

2023 Peugeot e-Traveller – Value and Practicality

As far as value is concerned, the 2022 e-Traveller costs £49,100 for the 50kWh model while the 75kWh model costs a few thousand pounds more. This is a hefty price to pay for a van, but electric vans do come with a premium over their dirtier ICE counterparts.

Practicality is excellent with seating for up to nine people and lots of space for everything else. The front overhang is almost non-existent which gives you a pretty good idea of where the front corners are which makes parking as easy as it could be.

Should I buy the 2023 Peugeot e-Traveller?

If you are after a large, yet not overly large van that can take care of all of your commercial and personal needs, the e-Traveller is indeed a really competitive option. It would be a good idea to wait for the 2023 model to come out as it is likely going to be decently improved over the 2022 model.

However, if you aren’t a fan of vans and if you don’t really need a van, an SUV or a sedan is the better choice as these tend to be more efficient, look better, are more comfortable, and way more luxurious, especially at this price point.

Which cars rival the Peugeot e-Traveller?

The biggest competitors to the Peugeot e-Traveller are other Stellantis-owned electric vans with the same powertrain. These include the Citroen e-Dispatch, the Vauxhall e-Vivaro, and the Toyota Proace VERSO, all of which use the same platform. Toyota is not owned by Stellantis, but they did manage to get a hold of the platform to make their own version of an electric van.

Is the new Peugeot e-Traveller coming out in 2023?

It is not 100% sure if the new e-Traveller is going to make its debut next year as Peugeot is really busy electrifying all of their existing models and because the e-Traveller is still fairly competitive due to an overall lack of electric vans on the market. We can expect the new e-Traveller to drop either in 2023 or 2024.
