The diesel engine palette consists of 1.7L 4-cylinder engines in various stages of tune. You can get the 1.7L with either 116hp, 136hp, or 140hp. All i40 models are front-wheel-drive and you can choose between a regular manual or a single-clutch automatic.
Efficiency-wise, the i40 can do a maximum of around 45-50MPG with diesel models while gasoline models should be able to return up to 35MPG.
