Is Citroën C4 Aircross a good car?

Is Citroën C4 Aircross a good car?

The Citroen C4 Aircross is a 5-door family subcompact SUV/crossover that was in production between 2012 and 2017. It was sold in many places around the world and it shares its underpinnings with the Peugeot 2004 and the Mitsubishi ASX. The C4 Aircross is indeed a popular family car, but is Citroen C4 Aircross a good car?

The Citroen C4 Aircross is indeed a really good car because it combines many aspects that make a great family transporter. It comes with plenty of gas and diesel engine options, all of which are efficient and smooth. The car also looks fairly interesting as Citroen was always willing to design cars that do look the part and aren’t just a copy of all the other cars from this segment.

Reliability-wise, the C4 Aircross seems to be fairly decent, much better than other Citroen cars from this era. However, there are some issues worth talking about because the C4 Aircross isn’t perfect by any means. The values of these are also fairly decent which further makes them decent used cars.

Practicality is great with the C4 Aircross because it offers lots of seating and truck space throughout. It is a family car with good visibility, easy controls, and is really easy to drive.

Citroen C4 Aircross – The powerplant

The Citroen C4 Aircross engine lineup kicks off with a 1.6L gasoline in-line 4-cylinder engine that makes 117hp. You can also choose between two diesel engines, a 1.6L diesel 4-cylinder engine with 115hp or a larger and more powerful 1.8L 4-cylinder diesel engine with 150hp which is the preferred choice for most C4 Aircross buyers.

Is Citroën C1 a good car?

The C4 Aircross returns up to 50MPG for diesel variants which certainly is an impressive result considering the size of the car. The gasoline-powered 1.6L 4-cylinder can return up to 40MPG which is also an impressive result for a gasoline engine. The C4 Aircross can be had in either FWD or AWD form depending on your personal preference.

You can also choose between a manual or an automatic gearbox, but it seems like the automatic box fits the car a bit better as it is a city car after all. All in all, the C4 Aircross comes with good engine options, they might not be the most powerful out there, but they certainly do the trick.

Citroen C4 Aircross – Design and chassis

The Citroen C4 Aircross is a five-door family crossover/SUV which means that it follows a familiar design trajectory, but Citroen has made sure that the C4 Aircross differs from its competition quite a bit. It may not be the most beautiful car out there, but no one can say that it looks bad. The interior is nicely laid out, but it surely isn’t luxurious or opulent.

The suspension and chassis tuning is tailored toward comfort and ease of use which makes the C4 feel comfortable and fairly non-dynamic. This is more or less what you get from these types of cars so it isn’t something all that special.

Citroen C4 Aircross – Reliability and common issues

When it comes to reliability, the C4 Aircross seems to be better than all the cars that came before it. It is also a fairly affordable car to maintain which is obviously a really good thing. The bad thing is that it needs maintenance often, but that is something you have to do if you want the car to last a long time.

Common problems with Citroën C3 Aircross

The most common C4 Aircross issues are related to the transmission, the electricals, the suspension, the brakes, and the steering system. These aren’t detrimental to the car’s overall driveability, but they can be down the line if you don’t do everything that needs to be done in due time.

Citroen C4 Aircross – Value and practicality

Value-wise, the C4 Aircross is really good because it now costs a pretty penny after a few years of use. It wasn’t a particularly expensive car to begin with which means that the prices are now really affordable. You truly do get a lot of value for your money which is why the C4 Aircross is actually a really popular car on the 2nd hand market.

Practicality is great because the car can easily seat up to four adults without any problems. It also offers lots of trunk space which further makes the car even more usable. Visibility is great, mounting a child seat is easy, and the car is really easy to get in and out of.

 FAQ Section

Did Citroen discontinue the C4 Aircross?

The Citroen C4 Aircross only spent about 5 years on the market which isn’t exactly all that long. The C4 Aircross was later replaced by the C5 Aircross which many deem a worthy upgrade over the C4. Either way, the C4 Aircross is likely not going to be revived anytime soon as Citroen is now busy making the Cactus and many other cars from this segment.

The C4 Aircross was fairly popular when it first came out, but people started being a bit nosey about the fact that the C4 Aircross shares way too much resemblance to the Mitsubishi ASX and the Peugeot 4008.

Is Citroën C3 Picasso a good car?

Is the Citroen C4 Aircross a rebadged Mitsubishi ASX?

As mentioned in the beginning, the C4 Aircross is really similar to both the Mitsubishi ATX and the Peugeot 4008. These three are so similar that many people deemed the Citroen C4 to be a waste of money because the ASX cost less.

This is also partly the reason why the Citroen C4 Aircross was retired so early in its production as most cars typically last 5-7 years on the market, if not even longer.

How long can the Citroen C4 Aircross last?

The Citroen C4 Aircross should be able to last at least 100,000 – 200,000 miles if you take proper care of it. It is really difficult to gauge how long any car can last, but if properly maintained, there is absolutely no reason to suggest that the C4 Aircross is going to die anytime sooner than that.
