Is Hyundai Ioniq 6 a good car?

Hyundai has been on a roll lately when it comes to car design. The Ioniq 5 is widely regarded as one of the best-looking EVs to ever come out while the brand new Ioniq 6 is even better-looking. The Ioniq 6 is going on sale hopefully by the end of 2022, and it seems like it is going to sell really well. So, is Hyundai Ioniq 6 a good car?

Yes, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is most certainly a really good car for many different reasons. For starters, it gets two different battery sizes depending on your needs, both of which are plenty for most people. The exterior design is really cool thanks to a sloping roofline and a really sleek silhouette. The interior is not as exciting, but still really cool.

When it comes to driving, we really can’t tell yet as the Ioniq 6 hasn’t been driven by that many people. What we can say is that it shares its platform with the Ioniq 5, but the Ioniq 6 should be a bit more dynamic and comfortable. Reliability is also still a mystery, but the Ioniq 6 should also be fairly similar to the Ioniq 5 which is indeed a dependable automobile.

Price-wise, the Ioniq 6 is likely going to cost between $45,000 and $55,000 depending on the trim level you go for. For this price, there really aren’t any more exciting electric sedans out there. Practicality is really good, but the car is held back a little bit because it does not get a front trunk space at all.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 – The powerplant

As mentioned in the beginning, the Ioniq 6 gets either a 53kWh or a larger 77kWh. Both of these are going to be available as either RWD or AWD cars. The power goes up to 325hp for the top-spec model which can also do a maximum of around 370 miles on a full charge. All Ioniq 6 models will also support 350kW fast charging which can recharge the car up to 80% in just around 20 minutes or so.

Slow charging is likely going to take between 6 and 9 hours depending on the battery you go for. Hyundai says that the Ioniq 6 is going to be one of the most efficient EVs out there thanks to a predicted 4.4 miles per a single kWh. This is possible due to a really low drag coefficient partly achieved by the way the car’s roof slopes down to the ground.

You can expect to reach 60mph from a standstill in little over 5 seconds which certainly is a decent pace, but nowhere near on cars such as the Tesla Model 3 Performance. All in all, the Ioniq 6 is going to have more or less the same powertrain as the Ioniq 5.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 – Design and chassis

When it comes to design, the Ioniq 6 simply can’t be criticized because it looks really cool. Some even say that the new Mercedes EQS looks less like a Mercedes than the Hyundai Ioniq 6. The interior of the Ioniq 6 is also really well-appointed, but there aren’t many differences with the Ioniq 5 except for a fixed center console as opposed to a movable one in the Ioniq 5.

Common problems with Hyundai Ioniq 6

The driving experience is a mystery, but some sources state that the Ioniq 6 feels like a more comfortable, quieter, and slightly more composed version of the Ioniq 5. This makes perfect sense as these two cars share the same platform, the same engines, and a really similar suspension system.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 – Reliability and common issues

In order to properly assess a car’s reliability, a few years simply have to go by. This means that we still can’t say anything about the Ioniq 6 because it didn’t even go on sale yet. What we can say is that it should be really similar to the Ioniq 5 which certainly is a dependable car overall.

Some people complain about the fact that the Ioniq 6 only comes in sedan form, that there still is nothing concrete about a performance model, and the fact that it does not come with the front trunk. The production is constantly being delayed which is also frustrating for those who want the Ioniq 6 asap.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 – Value and practicality

The Ioniq 6 costs between $45,000 and $55,000 depending on the trim level you go for. This price range does not really have any other cars that can truly rival the Ioniq 6. Practicality-wise, the Ioniq 6 seems to be really good, but some did complain that the rear seating space is a bit too low, probably to compensate for a sloping roofline, and of course, no front trunk.

Modern-day cars are so advanced that they tend to bridge gaps quite often. As such, a car from this segment can nowadays be considered somewhat of a luxury car simply because of all the technology and advancements it offers.
