Common problems with Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford Mustang Mach-E problems

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is the very first mainstream electric car made by Ford. As Ford is a gargantuan automotive company, they pretty much invested billions in this project that was not only to make the Mach-E but to serve as the bedrock for many consecutive electric and hybrid Ford vehicles to come in the not too distant future.

When it comes to reliability, coming out with a brand new project is usually a sign of trouble to come, and to be frank, the Mach-E does have its share of issues. On the other hand, EVs are inherently more reliable than ICE cars which somewhat softens the blow. Either way, Ford is continuously trying to make the Mach-E more and more dependable.

The most common Ford Mustang Mach-E issues are related to the battery. Various equipment-related issues, issues with the charging system, issues with the app that comes with the car, and issues with various safety software systems are also common with the Mach-E. Granted, Ford is trying to resolve much of these software issues as we speak, but that might be more difficult than one would imagine.

Either way, the Mach-E seems to be a decently reliable car. Some issues can completely ruin the overall experience and make you wish you never bought one, but aside from that, the Mach-E is a cool EV that is only going to become better as time goes on.

 Ford Mach-E – Battery issues

The battery is a known focal point of an EV because the battery is the source of all energy that both enables you to drive the car and do various other things such as turn on the A/C. However, if your battery decides to stop working (which is sometimes the case with the Mach-E) you will be left with literally nothing.

Many Mach-E owners have complained about the car going to sleep and not wanting to wake up anymore. This happens even when the car reaches a full state of charge and Ford says that this issue is purely software-related. They also said that issues such as these can be resolved without taking the car to a dealer, but the jury is still out on that one.

Ford Mach-E – Equipment issues

When we think of luxury, we usually don’t think about Ford. However, Ford has come a long way and they now make cars that come with almost everything you get on a luxury car. These include full-length panoramic sunroofs, heated and cooled seats, and a whole host of smart features that are designed to make your life easier and more comfortable.

However, there were many instances in which owners have complained about the sunroof literally exploding without an apparent reason and many of them also said that the windows are prone to cracking too. Some owners have also reported issues with rear trunk hatch alignment, but Ford had nothing to say about this.

Ford Mustang Mach-E – Charging issues

The Ford Mach-E is a car that supports the latest charging speeds of the modern era which means that the Mach-E is on par with the most advanced EVs on the current market. However, the Mach-E sometimes likes to open the charging port without an apparent reason and Ford’s charging network is rather dismissable when compared to the big boys of electric cars.

Some owners also complained about the car refusing to charge during cold weather while others have reported the car refusing to charge in general.

Ford Mustang Mach-E – App issues

The Ford Mach-E comes with a proprietary phone app that is designed to control various functions of the car remotely. This enables you to use your phone as the key or to always be able to check the car’s state of charge or control charging cycles. The phone/key feature is not working for some owners, and the bright minds at Ford said that the issue is unfixable.

It seems like Ford dealers are in the dark when it comes to knowing what to do when angry customers come and demand an explanation about why some features are not working. This is what happens when a brand makes an entirely new model because an entirely new model is usually accompanied by entirely new sets of problems.

Ford Mustang Mach-E – Various safety software issues

The Ford Mustang Mach-E comes with a whole host of advanced driver assistance systems such as forward collision avoidance or automatic braking. Owners have reported these systems to be either way too intrusive or not functioning at all. We will have to wait and see how Ford deals with issues such as these before we can comfortably say that the Mach-E is a reliable car as a whole.

  Common problems with Fiat Scudo

The Mach-E is a jack of all trades which helps when it comes to trying to sell the car. However, it does not excel in anything in particular, but the price is considered fitting for the Mach-E. All in all, if you love the car’s looks and technology, you should consider it.

Why did Ford make an electric Mustang?

The Mustang Mach-E is not a direct electric version of the Mustang Coupe. The reason why Ford used the Mustang name is to ensure that the Mach-E is to be taken seriously. They know that the Mustang brand is held high in regard and is one of the most recognizable automotive model names in history.

They figured that if they combine the Ford from the past with the Ford from the future, they will be able to build a new brand legacy on the existing iconic Mustang name.

How much does the Ford Mustang Mach-E cost?

The Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at around $44,000 which makes it more expensive than the VW ID.4 and the Kia Nero EV, yet not as expensive as the Tesla Model Y.
